Eyes to Burma is a small direct-aid organization assisting the 500-member community of Burmese migrant workers and economic refugees who live and work at a rubbish dump in Mae Sot, Thailand.
One hundred percent of donations go to our projects, including: clean water, land for living off the dump, housing materials, emergency relief, on-site classes for educational enhancement, and most important, subsidizing costs for students to go to school. ETB makes daily living for struggling families easier, healthier, and more hopeful.
These humanitarian efforts began in 2008 by ETB founder Fred Stockwell, who has changed the lives of countless people through our nonprofit organization. He’s gained the respect and trust of the community over the 11 years of our assistance programs. An unpaid volunteer, Fred devotes his life 24/7 to improve the lives of the people of this community.
ETB’s projects and goals are guided by our core beliefs:
Access to education and health care
Helping families stay together
Respecting cultural practices
Empowering people to help themselves and each other
Looking after the elderly
Giving children a chance to be kids
Our practice is to purchase needed goods from local businesses and hire community members for improvement projects. This allows your donation to stretch very far while promoting local economies.
ETB is a non-religious, non-political, 501(c)(3) non-profit with Board members based in Ashland, Oregon, USA. Our annual budget is $25,000 USD which is raised by grassroots fundraising efforts with donors from over 19 countries. We especially thank the community of Ashland, Oregon, as well as the Wagstaff-Lo’s, Aussie Friends of Eyes to Burma, Ride High Foundation, and local Mae Sot supporters.
